The Henderson Eels player now is also a Solomon Islands international footballer after a mesmerizing performance in the Solomon Cup earlier this year. The footballer represented his new club, Henderson Eels to deliver all the football equipment to his home club, GB United Football club over the weekend. Henderson Eels through Clifton Aumae and Andrew Rarangia supported both GB United FC and Rarasu FC through providing them with football equipment.
GB United FC is a local club competing in the Auki Football league and currently leading the league with only one win away from securing the champion’s title. The club might be unknown to many Solomon Islanders but two of their players are household names now to the Solomon Islands. James Naka and Clifton Aumae are products of this local club and they are now the big names in Solomon Islands football. In an interview with Clifton Aumae, the humble footballer expressed his appreciation towards Henderson Eels support.
“Well for me, it is a dream come true. I had always wanted these supports but we do not have it back then. As a senior player in this local club, over a couple of years, the only support we have is from DFAT Australia through Live & learn Solomon Islands and RAMSI through their farewell sports grant. Henderson Eels support now is timely and all the boys really appreciated, there are no words to say how thankful we are.” said Mr. Aumae.
The timely support by Henderson Eels not only motivated Clifton Aumae but also his boys to be determined to achieve the same fate as James Naka and Clifton Aumae have both achieved. The history also showed that veteran players like Wilson Maelaua, Sam Ata, Eddie Kasute’e, Jacob Moli, Davidson Ngwaeramo and Aote’e just to name a few all hail from this area where GB United FC is located. Solomon Islands international, Mr. Aumae also share some of his future goals especially for the local club he calls home.
